Following a successful pilot, South Australia’s only veterinary school will introduce CoVet, helping students and veterinary teams spend less time on documentation and more time focused on patient care.
CoVet, the veterinary industry’s leading AI clinical copilot, today announced that the Adelaide University’s School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences plans to introduce CoVet across its veterinary teaching and clinical environments following a successful pilot.
Based at the University’s Roseworthy campus, the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences is home to South Australia’s only veterinary school and the Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital (RVH), which includes companion animal and large animal teaching hospitals. The School integrates veterinary education, research and clinical practice across programs in veterinary medicine, veterinary technology, animal science and animal behaviour.
As part of the rollout, CoVet will be integrated into the University's teaching and clinical environments, supporting veterinary teaching staff, clinicians and students with AI-assisted clinical documentation. The technology is designed to reduce time spent on clinical note-taking and administrative work while giving students practical exposure to AI-assisted veterinary workflows as part of their training.
“Veterinary education is one of the most important places to introduce technology that can improve the future of the profession,” said Aaron Massecar, PhD, Head of Partnerships at CoVet. “By giving students and teaching teams access to AI-assisted documentation during training, we can help future veterinarians build more efficient workflows from the beginning of their careers and create more time for patients, clients and learning.”
The rollout follows a successful pilot and is expected to begin with approximately 28 clinicians across the School’s teaching and clinical environments. The initiative reflects a broader shift in veterinary education, as universities explore how responsible AI tools can support both clinical efficiency and the development of future-ready veterinary professionals.
“I’m excited to expose our students to AI scribe software within the controlled environment of a teaching hospital, helping them develop a responsible approach to using this powerful tool.” – Dr Sita Withers and Dr Olivier Simon, Clinical Leads for Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital
“Bringing CoVet to RVH has been an exciting project, and one that has the potential to make a real difference across the hospital. For our veterinarians, it will reduce the administrative burden of clinical documentation, while also supporting our nursing, Client Services and broader hospital teams through better access to clear and consistent clinical information. Ultimately, this means more time and focus for patient care and a better experience for our clients. The project was made even better through the fantastic support and collaboration from Laura Cramsie throughout the implementation, and we’re excited to see the benefits CoVet will bring to RVH.” — Sarah Nixon, Business Systems for Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital
Adelaide University’s adoption of CoVet strengthens the company’s growing presence in veterinary education and across the Australia and New Zealand region. By introducing AI-assisted documentation within an academic and teaching-hospital setting, the initiative will help students become familiar with emerging clinical technologies before entering practice.
The collaboration also reflects a shared focus on reducing the administrative burden associated with veterinary medicine. By helping teaching teams and students spend less time on documentation, CoVet supports a more sustainable approach to clinical training and creates more time for patient care, education and professional development.
