CoVet and Shepherd Announce Integration to Connect Veterinary Documentation Workflows

A new integration connects CoVet with Shepherd PIMS, helping general practice teams reduce duplicate documentation and keep records in sync.

CoVet, the AI copilot built to help veterinary professionals reduce end-of-day documentation, today announced a new integration with Shepherd, the cloud-based veterinary practice management system.

With automatic appointment imports and structured exports back into Shepherd patient notes, veterinary teams can document visits in CoVet while keeping records aligned across both systems. This helps reduce duplicate entry and creates a more connected workflow across the clinic.

“This integration reflects our commitment to meeting veterinarians where they already work,” said Yannick Bloem, CEO and Co-Founder of CoVet. “By connecting CoVet with Shepherd, we’re giving clinics a faster, more intuitive way to document care, reduce administrative burden, and ultimately spend more time with patients.”

"Great care happens when everything works together: the people, the workflows, and the tools," said Lauren Jones, VMD, Director of Veterinary Medicine at Shepherd. "That's what drew me to Shepherd, and that's why this integration fits. Shepherd is built around how clinics actually run, and integrating CoVet means one less distraction pulling teams out of their flow. The best days in a clinic are the ones where the technology fades into the background, and the team can stay focused on the patient, not the process. That's exactly what this collaboration is about."

The CoVet and Shepherd integration is designed to make day-to-day work easier for GP clinics by reducing manual tasks, supporting clearer documentation, and keeping records connected across systems. By combining Shepherd’s practice management capabilities with CoVet’s AI copilot, veterinary teams can spend less time on duplicate admin and more time staying present during the visit.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to helping veterinary teams work with less friction and more clarity throughout the day.

Why Clinical Excellence Must Be Built Into Veterinary AI

August 14, 2026·10 minutes

Clinical excellence in veterinary AI requires more than having veterinarians endorse a product. Veterinary professionals should influence product requirements, templates, testing, quality review, localization, implementation, support, and education. CoVet uses an in-house Medical Department led by Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Mike Mossop, alongside DVMs, RVTs, specialty advisors, and other team members with veterinary-practice experience to keep clinical workflows connected to product development.
