The partnership will provide the province’s animal health technicians with French-language training on the responsible use of AI in practice.
CoVet, the veterinary industry’s leading AI copilot platform, today announced a partnership with the Association des techniciens en santé animale du Québec (ATSAQ), the professional association representing animal health technicians in Quebec.
The partnership brings CoVet and ATSAQ together around education, professional development and practical guidance on the use of AI in veterinary practice, with resources designed for French-speaking animal health technicians in Quebec.
Animal health technicians take on a wide range of responsibilities within veterinary teams, from technical and clinical work to client education and support for veterinarians. As AI plays a growing role in practice, the partnership gives technicians practical guidance on where these tools support their work, how to use them responsibly and where their professional judgment remains essential.
Education is central to ATSAQ’s mission. The association oversees the certification of animal health technicians in Quebec, and certified members must maintain continuing education credits to keep their certification.
“Technicians are the backbone of the clinic. They prepare for surgery, reassure the patient and explain post-operative care to a worried owner at 6 p.m.,” said Yannick Bloem, CEO and co-founder of CoVet. “When AI takes some of the typing off their plate, that expertise goes back to patients and clients. Working with ATSAQ gives technicians a role in shaping how AI enters Quebec clinics, while giving them the opportunity to learn about it in their own language.”
“AI is already making its way into our members’ clinics,” said Élisabeth Lebeau, TSA, Executive Director of ATSAQ “Technicians deserve clear training on how to use it well and understand its limitations. This partnership gives TSA and TSAc a place to learn, ask questions and earn credits, while keeping their own expertise at the centre.”
The first initiative of the partnership was Une patte d'avance : utiliser l'IA intelligemment en santé animale, a free one-hour webinar held on October 14, 2026.
The session was led by Vanessa Vasiloganis, a Montreal-based certified animal health technician who now serves as Senior Bilingual Account Executive at CoVet. Drawing on her experience in practice, she covered practical applications of AI in medical documentation, client communication and clinical workflows. She also addressed recommended practices, the limitations of AI tools and the importance of keeping professional judgment at the centre of their use. Participants learned practical ways to use AI to save time and put more of their expertise to work within the veterinary team.
The webinar was recognized for one continuing education credit for certified TSA members.
The webinar marked the beginning of the collaboration between CoVet and ATSAQ. The two organizations will continue working together on education and professional development initiatives to support Quebec's animal health technicians as their role and the tools available to them continue to evolve.
