Brand guidelines

Icons & illustration

Illustrations are used sparingly and only where photography cannot communicate the idea such as diagrams, workflows, abstract concepts. They should support understanding, not decoration.

Icon system

Style

Outlined (1.5px stroke) or two-tone (outline + single fill accent). Two-tone fills use CoVet Blue at 15% opacity.

Grid & radius

24px base grid for standard UI icons, 2px corner radius on internal shapes for softness.

Color

CoVet Blue (#00A3E8) for interactive icons, Gray (#595959) for informational, White on dark backgrounds.

Scale

Maintain 1.5px stroke at 24px base size; scale proportionally without changing stroke weight. Minimum 16px (switch to simplified glyph below), maximum 64px (hero or feature illustrations only). Always give icons adequate padding.

Icon previews

Illustration principles

When used, illustrations should be

  • Clean and minimal, with flat or near-flat geometry.
  • Drawn in the brand palette (primarily CoVet Blue, CoVet Dark, Gold Light, and neutrals).
  • Playful, stylized, and minimalistic if skeuomorphic.
  • Organic and real-looking, using natural mediums, for figurative artwork.
  • Line-art renditions of realistic environments (used for our events booth with great success).

Avoid

  • Excessive detail, gradients, or texture that competes with photography.
  • Decoration that doesn’t help someone grasp a concept faster, unless deliberately decorative, in which case it must stay subtle and never sacrifice clarity or legibility.
